Construction license issued for Barakah — United Arab Emirates’ first nuclear reactorsby I-Nuclear |
United
Arab Emirates Nuclear Energy Corp. was given a construction license for
the Arab state’s first nuclear reactors -- two Korean-designed APR 1400
reactors to be built at Barakah.
The
Federal Agency for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) issued the construction
license after a rigorous review and approval process, Emirates Nuclear
Energy Corp. (ENEC) said in a statement July 18.
“This
approval confirms that we are building a world-class nuclear energy
program for the UAE and remain committed to the highest standards of
safety and quality,” ENEC CEO Mohamed Al Hammadi said.
