NRC postpones ruling on Md. reactor project to August
The
Nuclear Regulatory Commission is expected to make a decision "on or
before August 31" on EDF Group's bid to construct a third reactor at the
Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant in Maryland, the agency's Atomic Safety
and Licensing Board said. The agency had planned to issue the ruling by
the end of last week, but the "size and complexity" of one of the
challenges against the project led to the delay. Opponents of the
project have said they expect the agency to reject the license bid
because it goes against foreign-ownership limitations. SNL Financial (free content)
