If you’ve ever wondered how our Science and Security Board decides the time of the Bulletin’s famed Doomsday Clock, register now
for the annual Clock Symposium, where a stellar line-up of speakers
will discuss the issues that we take into account each year.
The
Symposium is free and open to the public, and will take place at the
University of Chicago's Eckhardt Center in Chicago, Illinois, from 12
p.m. to 4 p.m. Now in its seventh year, it is designed to bring together
the world’s leading science and security experts to discuss the
pressing issues of our time, with a special focus on nuclear security
and disarmament, climate change, the changing energy landscape, and
emerging technologies.
The Science and Security Board will meet later that week to deliberate on whether to move the hand on the Clock
in January, 2016, so the Symposium is your chance to hear the latest in
science and security issues that will influence what the Board decides.
Recent
events such as the Iran nuclear deal and the upcoming international
climate negotiations in Paris will frame this year’s discussions.
Please see the event schedule below, and don’t forget to register today!
