Nuclear power key in curbing climate change
Meaningful carbon-reduction goals can't be achieved without our existing nuclear energy plants, according to the US' longest-serving EPA Administrator, Carol Browner, in a new column [ http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/

The US nuclear fleet has an irreplaceable capacity for providing emission-free energy. In fact, in 2014, existing nuclear energy plants accounted for a staggering 63% of all carbon-free electricity in the US - "keeping the lights on without polluting the air," Browner writes.

Her column comes on the heels of Climate Week, which brought environmental advocates from across the world to New York to discuss sustainable solutions. This August, Browner notes, the EPA released a Clean Power Plan to "reduce carbon pollution from existing generation sources in order to make meaningful progress towards a clean energy future."
