NEI rejects report that labels reactors as bad assets
The
Nuclear Energy Institute rejected a report released by Greenpeace that
labeled nuclear plants "toxic assets" to investors. According to the
report, the Fukushima Daiichi incident in Japan shows how harmful these
events can be to investors' portfolios. "The authors ... seem incapable
of grasping that our industry already has begun to extract lessons
learned from the events in Japan and apply them to better protect our
facilities against the impacts of extreme events, regardless of their
cause," said NEI spokesman Steve Kerekes. SNL Financial (free content)
