- Safety questions could delay N.H. plant's relicensing
Safety concerns detected by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission could slow the relicensing process for NextERA Energy's Seabrook nuclear plant in New Hampshire. An NRC report shows "open items ... [that] involve consideration of operating experience and development of pressure-temperature limits, alkali-silica reaction in safety-related structures and aging-management programs for certain safety-related components," the agency said. NextEra spokesman Alan Griffith called the renewal process "extremely rigorous" but said company officials "remain confident that we can prove to the NRC that we can address any issue they have."
