- Study: Swiss nuclear plants can withstand an earthquake
Switzerland's Federal Nuclear Security Inspectorate determined that the country's nuclear plants are capable of handling a major earthquake. The facilities provide about 40% of Switzerland's electricity. The Fukushima Daiichi incident in Japan prompted the Swiss government to plan to shut down its nuclear plants by 2034. Reuters
