U.S. official dismisses need for uranium enrichment in South Korea

There is no need for South Korea to enrich uranium for reactor fuel because the country can procure enrichment services from foreign markets, said White House arms-control coordinator Gary Samore. "So there is no danger that Korean industry will not be able to get access to low enriched uranium. ... You don't have to worry about any limit Korea will have," Samore told reporters after a forum in Washington this week on the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit, which took place in March.
