- Report: French reactors may need more decommissioning funds
Funds set aside by French nuclear plant operators for the decommissioning of reactors and the management of radioactive waste might be inadequate, a parliamentary report stated. Cost estimates lack a "safety margin and risk being raised in the future," according to the report. Funds reached $42.3 billion in 2011, the report found, but about $111.9 billion is needed for decommissioning and the treatment of radioactive waste. Bloomberg (7/24)
