Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chairwoman Allison Macfarlane said she's keeping an open mind about the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository project. In the years before she accepted the NRC post, Macfarlane had conducted research on the issue based on science that is now a decade old. "Of course, over time, knowledge changes and new evidence comes to light, and I intend to keep an open mind," she said, adding there was "always a possibility" she would change her view on the issue.
