S.C. MOX facility remains on track for 2016 completion
The
Department of Energy's $4.8 billion mixed-oxide fuel project at South
Carolina's Savannah River Site is still on schedule for a 2016
completion despite some construction challenges, said Kelly Trice,
president of Shaw AREVA MOX Services. "We're not building a Wal-Mart or a
Kmart out there. We're building a high-precision nuclear plant," said
Trice, whose company is developing the project. The facility aims to
convert surplus plutonium into fuel for commercial reactors. The Augusta Chronicle (Ga.)
