Report: U.S. nuclear industry deserves federal support
The
federal government needs to support the nuclear energy industry by
implementing lessons learned from the Fukushima Daiichi incident in
Japan, continuing efforts to enhance security and safety at nuclear
plants and applying the radioactive waste management recommendations put
forth by the federal blue ribbon panel, said former Department of
Energy official Warren "Pete" Miller and former Sen. Pete Domenici. "We
believe nuclear power must continue to be viewed as a critical option
for electricity generation -- one that remains uniquely important for
long-term U.S. national security and energy security," they said in a
