The
U.S. nuclear industry has learned many lessons from the Fukushima
Daiichi incident in Japan, said Adrian Heymer, the Nuclear Energy
Institute's senior director of strategic programs. "We have learned some
things from Fukushima in terms of emergency planning and improved
communications," Heymer said. "Right now we're looking to move toward
satellite communications for plants. ... We're re-evaluating the hazards
from natural phenomenon so that we can handle changes in the
