Senate bill pushes for revival of Nevada repository
A
bill unveiled in the Senate would task President Barack Obama with
certifying that the Yucca Mountain project in Nevada is still the ideal
location for a federal radioactive-waste repository. Utilities would get
back all of the money they put into the Nuclear Waste Fund if the
president declines, according to the office of Sen. Lindsey Graham,
R-S.C. "According to the latest information, South Carolina residents
alone have already paid more than $1.3 billion to the fund," Graham
said. Platts
